Problem

To keep our database up to date, "Daily Search Jobs" are created. The Job intervall depends on your configuration (see Wuinstall -> Settings).

In some cases wuinstall is unable to complete the search command.

Solution

If the "Daily Search Job" fails after 4 times a WU_API_ERROR Tag will be assigned to the affected hardware. Now you are able to find the affected hardware and search for the cause.

Possible causes:

  • Network timeouts
  • Not enought resources on your hardware (disk, memory)
  • WSUS Server issues


If the subsequent job succeeds, the WU_API_ERROR tag is automatically removed.
